Historical home burned down

Russell lost a historical home on Jan. 5. The oldest home in Russell was built in 1888 and was 133 years old. According to an RCMP release they attended to find the home fully engulfed on Pelly Ave. (just behind the RCMP station) to find firefighters battling the blaze. At approximately 12:55 a.m., 22-year-old Liam Flett called 911 and stated he was responsible for the fire. RCMP attended the location they were given and remanded him into custody for Arson, Mischief and Break and Entering to Commit an offense.
